Local Interstellar Medium
Seth Redfield, UT
abstract
bio
Seth Redfield is a Hubble Fellow at the University of Texas Austin. He received his
Ph.D. in 2003 from the University of Colorado after completing a thesis under the direction of
Jeff Linsky. Seth was a Harlan J. Smith Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Texas from
2003-2005. His primary research interest is the three dimensional morphology and physical
structure of the Local Interstellar Medium. He is currently leading a large-scale survey of
CaII LISM absorption using the two highest resolution spectrographs in the world. His other
research interests include the effects of the interstellar environment on terrestrial phenomena
such as historical climate patterns: high-resolution spectral signatures of nearby debris disks
and late-type stellar atmospheres.
