Scott S. Sheppard is a Hubble research fellow at the Carnegie Institute of Washington in
the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism. He received his Ph.D. at the Institute for Astronomy at the
University of Hawaii in 2004. He is interested in formation of solar systems. His current research deals
with the discovery and physical classification of small bodies in our Solar System. He is involved in
surveys for unknown planetary satellites and Kuiper Belt objects (KBOs) as well as understanding the
rotations and surface properties of large KBOs through targeted observations.
