Class Information Mission
Statement / Class Summary
This Freshman Seminar course was developed with the primary goal of unveiling
information pertaining to monoliths in Africa, primarily those that were astronomically
oriented. Throughout the semester, we (the Ancient Astronomy in Africa class) did research on
the subject through online sources as well as library searches. We also were able to
contact many people who helped us with our main project. Near the end of the semester, the
information for which we were searching began to unfold. Unfortunately, the course
was over far too soon for us to be able to fully research everything that we could on the
subject. We hope that the students and other people will have the initiative to continue to
contribute to this research and discover all that there is to know about ancient
astronomy in Africa.
