Title: Population III Star Formation during and after the Reionization Epoch

Author(s): Michele Trenti

Abstract: Population III star formation during the dark ages shifts from mini-halos (~1e6 Msun) cooled via molecular hydrogen to more massive halos (~1e8 Msun) cooled via Lyman Alpha as radiative feedback progressively quenches molecular hydrogen cooling. Eventually, both modes of primordial star formation are suppressed by the chemical enrichment of the IGM. We will present a comprehensive model based on a combination of analytical calculations and cosmological simulations to follow the different modes of Population III formation during the dark ages and the transition from metal-free star formation to the first Population II galaxies. Finally we highlight the possibility of observing the explosion of Population III stars within Lyman Alpha cooled halos at redshift z~6 thanks to future deep all sky surveys such as LSST.
