Calculating Your Course Grade
Your course grade is composed of three ingredients, in the proportions stated in the original course syllabus. The hour exams
count for 64% of the grade, so you should average your exam scores to date (using the Make-Up Exam in place of Exam 1 or 2,
if your Make-Up Exam score was higher). To that number, add the average of the best 5 homeworks on a scale of 0 - 20, and the
actual participation point total on a scale of 0 - 16. Each of these three components is tallied and listed separately on eGradebook,
along with the sum of all of them, labelled Total (max of 100). This is your total numerical score for the semester. If you believe you
have found an error in this calculation, please contact the T.A.
These numerical scores will be assigned to the corresponding letter grades in the table below. (Please note: There will be no
additional "rounding up" of the numerical grades; they have already been rounded up to the full extent that will be performed.)
NOTE: If you are reading this page before Make-Up Exam 2, which will be given in class on Thursday, May 6, you still have
an opportunity to try to improve your course grade. If you take that Exam and perform better on it than on either Exam 3 or 4 (which
covered the same material), the higher exam score will be included in your course grade. Also, if you missed either Exam 3 or 4, you
currently have a zero for that grade, so chances are excellent that you will improve your grade! However, this is the last possible
opportunity to take a make-up exam. There will be no exam for Ast 307 given during finals week.
