Title: Numerical Methods for Radiative Feedback from the First Stars: Ionization in Adaptive Mesh Refinement Simulations

Author(s): Jeff Oishi

Abstract: We present a method for constructing time-dependent, 3-dimensional models of radiative feedback during the accretion phase of the first stars. Both semi-analytic and one-dimensional numerical models indicate that radiative feedback during the accretion phase is crucial to setting the final mass of the first stars. However, these models disagree widely due to the unknown combined effects of dimensionality and complex time dependence inherent in radiation hydrodynamic problems. Resolving these disagreements require large scale, 3-dimensional simulations, which our methods will enable.
