Rebecca Johnson is the press officer for McDonald Observatory. She writes news releases on astronomy research from the University, and assists members of the media in efforts to cover astronomy research. She is also editor of the observatory's StarDate magazine, producing 6 issues per year of astronomy features, news, and skywatching information. Rebecca has a master's degree in Science & Technology Journalism from Texas A&M University and degrees in Journalism and English from The University of Texas at Austin. Prior to coming to work for the observatory in 2001, she was a press officer for the National Radio Astronomy Observatory with responsibility for the Atacama Large Millimeter Array and the Green Bank Telescope. In graduate school and college, she completed writing internships at Sky & Telescope magazine and NASA's Space Telescope Science Institute. | ||
