Donald Blankenship

Donald Blankenship is interested in the exploration of the icy bodies of the solar system, especially Earth and Europa. He has been involved in expeditions to Antarctica for thirty years, and involved in the planning for the exploration of Europa for over a decade. He gained his B.S from Eastern Illinois University in Geology, and a M.S and Ph.D in Geophysics from the University of Wisconsin. Since 1991 he has worked at the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics. With his team of graduate and undergraduate students he has worked on problems relating to ice dynamics, geology and subglacial hydrology of the Antarctic Ice Sheet.
