"Observational Studies of Intracluster and Intragroup Light and how HETDEX will help"
Intracluster light, composed of stars outside of galaxies, has
been studied for
over 60 years, but the total amount and its detailed structure are still
poorly known. This is unfortunate, as intracluster light has a number of
interesting effects on the evolution of galaxies and
studies of the baryon fraction of the universe. I will report on
observations of the intracluster
light in nearby galaxy clusters and groups using a variety of techniques,
including new observations
of the Leo I group. I will also show how the HETDEX experiment offers a
unique way to search
for intracluster light in both the group and cluster environment.
