PARTICLE PHYSICS AND COSMOLOGY

This course will provide the basic principles of modern cosmology and
particle physics, as well as their connections. This course will be teach-taught by Prof. Komatsu at UT Austin and Prof.
Dutta at Texas A&M. Prof. Komatsu will teach the expansion of the universe; the cosmic microwave background (CMB);
and the large-scale structure of the Universe. Prof. Dutta will teach the review on properties of particles; dark matter; the
big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN); and cosmic inflation.
TEXTBOOK: No required text book – lecture notes
will be provided.
- Class will meet at on MW 10:10–11:25am.
- There will be 4 homework assignments. These will be written assignments and reports (see the course schedule
for topics). There will be no exams.
- The course grade will be evaluated on the basis of:
100% homework (4 homework assignments)
- The following grading scale will be used: 80+=A; 70-79=B; 60-69=C; 50-59=D.
Any average below 50 is failing.
