"Massive star explosions: New results, New instruments"
In the first part of the talk I will present two paradigm breaking stripped-envelope SNe. The first one, SN 2010mb, shows direct evidence for a supernova interacting with a large amount (a couple of solar mass) of hydrogen-free circum-stellar
material. The second one, PTF12gzk, is an highly asymmetric CC SN, with velocities reminiscent of those observed in GRB-SNe, discovered ~1 day after explosion.
In the second part of the talk, I will present the SED Machine, an integral field spectrograph built from the bottom up to classify transients. The SED Machine saw first light on June 2013 and will be mounted on the Palomar 60'' telescope as part of the iPTF/ZTF survey.
