The semester grade for Ast 352K will be computed as described in the original class syllabus: exams count for 60% of the grade, homeworks count for 20%, the oral presentation and materials for it count 15%, and general participation (including regular attendance and the lecture summary) count for the last 5%. We take the best three exams out of four (3 hour exams plus the comprehensive final), and the best four homeworks out of six. You can compute your own total score as follows, once you have been assigned your participation grade:

Step 1: Take the sum of your 3 best exams; divide by (3 x 80) = 240; multiply by 60. The maximum possible value is 60.

Step 2: Take the sum of your 4 best HWs; divide by (4 x 40) = 160; multiply by 20. The maximum possible value is 20.

Step 3: Add your Oral Presentation and General Participation scores. These are already in percentages. Maximum value is 20.

Step 4: Semester total = sum of Steps 1 - 3. Maximum value is 100. The letter grade "curve" is given below. (It is very close, in percentages, to the original curve for Exam 1.)

A

B
