This is a python code (python/sdss) that processes the large table file from a sdss01 run and creates a CDFP file.

 
% sdss_00.py sdss.cat > sdss.cdfp  

The CDFP file produced above can be be used to make a regions for overplotting in ds9+xpa with the cdfp2reg script.
