Construction status of the Facility
and Control/Service Building in March 1995: The outer walls are complete and feature a large dead
air space, vented at the top and bottom. The facility will be
kept at nighttime ambient temperature via air conditioning, and
is vented by six downdraft fans arranged around the base during
observing. These fans can provide up to 20 air changes per hour,
and are controlled by a digital environmental control system.
The control and service building is 2500 square feet on the main
floor and approximately 1500 square feet of mezzanine storage.
The building will usually be unheated with the exception of a
heavily insulated control room. |
