Kelle Cruz, Chair of the Employment Committee and the Founder, Editor, and Primary Contributor to the AstroBetter Blog and Wiki, will lead an informal and frank discussion about topics related to understanding the existing culture of Astronomy and how we can all work towards succeeding in it while also improving it. Topics could include how we can use social media as scientists to foster a more constructive and collaborative environment, how we can alter our everyday language to reduce the stigma against pursuing non-academic jobs, how as advisors and individuals we can address issues of work-life balance, how we can improve the overall mental-health of Astronomers, and how we can all be working towards increasing the diversity and overall scientific productivity of Astronomy.
