Our house in Northwest Hills, Austin, Texas

It is now twelve days since we moved into our house (6601 Sumac Drive) in the scenic Northwest Hills of Austin, Texas! We are 15 to 20 minutes drive from the Austin city center, but wonderfully tucked away in the high hills. We are nearly done unpacking, except for a few boxes and our paintings/pictures, which are still waiting to be hanged! Here are some photos! Come visit!

Shardha and Volker

Front entrance to our house on 6601 Sumac Drive!

Front door. We will enhance our landscaping and gardening skills soon!

Living room with five huge glass doors overlooking the backyard. The dining room is visible at the far side.

We love the five huge glass doors in the living room, offering a view of the tree tops, near and far.

View from the living room glass doors and from the porch...my "forest" :-)

Our favorite lazy place is the lounge sofa, from where we can gaze at the fireplace built into a limestone wall and at the trees outside.

The ceilings are very very high and have a sunlight window that beautifully captures the light.
The fireplace is built into a rustic limestone wall.

Dining room...with our corner bookshelf and some family photos.
We still have to hang the framed pictures next weekend!

Volker's study...after years of confinement in boxes, his books have found a home!

Shardha's study.. she is awaiting her books while being currently inspired by the creepers on the limestone wall.

The master bedroom. Sometimes we actually do sleep. We still have to put our favorite painting up!

Cozy breakfast room next to the kitchen. Our favorite time: breakfast on Saturday with the New York Times and fresh coffee!

The kitchen has an inbuilt microwave, electric stove, oven, dishwasher. So far the coffemaker is the most widely used item.
The Mauritian dodo on the high counter presides over all rituals... while looking at the green trees.
