Our program combines one-on-one research experiences with structured mentoring. Over 20 graduate students and postdoctoral researchers design a schedule of bi-weekly seminars and workshops throughout the summer for TAURUS students to discuss topics related to astronomy careers, programming, research, scientific writing, social justice in STEM, and more.
TAURUS Scholars travel to McDonald Observatory, a cutting-edge astronomical facility in West Texas, towards the end of the summer, where they conduct observations related to their science research projects.
UT Austin Astronomy hosted its first class of TAURUS Scholars in the summer of 2016. We were thrilled to get this program off the ground and we invite you to learn more about our TAURUS Scholars and follow the summer blog.
