A wrapper script for rc3tools that searches the RC3 for a galaxy by name. It recognizes NGC, IC, UGC, and PGC names (in various formats).
% rc3gal --help Help Information for: rc3gal rc3gal: Run the RC3TOOL code (an onlder lmfg code) in order to gather a short listing of information about one galaxy. The only input argument is the name of the galaxy. Note that rc3gal is a klugy little script that sets of batch query jobs (for batch_rc3.f) that searches for galaxy by name. This is superceded by NED name searching but this is sometimes a useful script. In June 2019 I added some RC3 codes to the OTW routines. I added a few more values to the rc3gal output (by modifying batch_rc3.f) and I now get the following slightly different output list:
