I am currently serving as the Systems Architect for McDonald Observatory, focusing on the critical infrastructure needed to support our science, adademic, and outreach operations.

Communications, Networking, and Telecommunications:

  • SM and MM Optic Fiber Plant Design and Installation (RFI)
  • Basic Juniper JunOS Router Programming
  • Basic Cisco IOS Layer2 and Layer3 Switch Programming
  • Wireless network implementations for edge & distribution, including 802.11 a/b/g/n

    Computing, Mass Storage:

  • Solaris, Linux and Windows System Administration
  • Sun and Dell Hardware Selection
  • NAS and SAN Engineering and Implementation

    Astronomy specific:

  • Self-contained imaging systems from SBIG, FLI, Apogee.
  • GPS Timing

    Miscellaneous:

  • 120 & 208 V power distribution and UPS selection for server closets and static equipment.
  • HVAC sizing, environmental monitoring.
  • Floor layouts.
