Progress on the Lambert Problem

David Arnett

Abstract

Prof. D. Lambert was an early advocate of the idea that the observationally inferred abundances were inconsistent with those predicted by stellar evolutionary theory. Recent progress in hydrodynamical simulations, high energy density laser experiments, and stellar modelling are beginning to offer a solution to this problem. Implications for stellar and galactic astrophysics will be discussed.
