Results and Prospects for Distance Measurement by Means of Binary Stars

Jocelyn Tomkin

Abstract

Distances play an important role in the determination of stellar properties, such as luminosity, radius and surface gravity. They thus allow better analysis of stellar spectra and the determination of more accurate stellar abundances. Here I review the results and prospects for distance measurement by means of binary stars.
