"Implications from the Detection of the Binary Black Hole Inspiral GW150914"

The recent detection by LIGO of gravitational waves from the merger of two black holes has provided direct evidence of binary black holes with masses greater than 30 solar masses. I will discuss the properties of the binary inferred by the event. I will also explore the implications of this event for models of the formation of black hole binaries in the field versus dynamical formation in clusters.
