John, Dan, Mary Kay, Tommy, and Matt attending
Mechanical:
Dewar design is basically done. Drafting is not close (no estimate
of when) because many details need to be added.
May have FAA drawing
package available for Critical Airworthiness Design Review by mid-Nov.
Analysis on about the same time scale. FAA report must include:
Electronics:
All cabling except chip socket is complete. Chip sockets should be done
by end of the month. Testing of cables scheduled for next week.
Detector bare readout hasn't arrived. Wallace hasn't provided clocking
patterns for readout yet. Need to have an estimate of integration times
for various modes and wavelengths at McDonald.
Digital logic for sending clocking patterns is understood.
Software:
Detail software plan for minimum system still not done. Wallace software
still being studied. McDonald has been alerted to our need for help.
ADC board requirements have been studied. Checking on availability of
Linux RedHat 6.0 drivers from supplier.
Proposals:
Wrote 4 proposals asking for 12 nights (4 nights engineering time; 4 nights
circumstellar shells; 2 nights M82; 2 nights stellar magnetic fields).
SSSC Meeting:
Summary of relevant topics at SSSC includes: Expect 0.8" rms pointing at
start of operations (with the Flexible Body Compensation in operation).
The tertiary will likely be supported with struts to improve pointing.
First science flight scheduled for Nov 2002.
NASA dignitaries visiting Waco on Nov 3; EXES science team members
encouraged to attend.
