JL, DJ, MKH, Tommy Greathouse, and MR attending
EPO:
AAS poster will be up on Wednesday and Thursday. Teachers will be
attending on Wednesday (SOFIA session).
Optics:
2 lens system gives best performance. Telescope has bad spherical
aberration when off nominal focus. Can use that to compensate
spherical aberration in lenses. With the lenses, we'll need to
refocus the telescope every 1 micron change in wavelength. This
puts a requirement on the repeatability of the guide camera.
Still need a mechanism for the final focal reducing lens.
Fiberglass supports:
Going back to simple tabs between LN and LHe. Tabs will be necked
down and with cutout in triangles. Fibers should be aligned along cross.
Detector and Electronics:
Can reset row & column multiplexer. Can step through rapidly but
can't reset or readout rapidly. Can read out squares. Wallace says
he'll be able to provide the patterns for readout needs. We'll need
an unscrambling algorithm for sub-arrays. Wallace will have a 40 MHz
clock and give large set of clock patterns. He's waiting for word on
FAA issues.
We're visiting SBRC in Dec.
Schedule:
Dan finished bottom up estimate of electronics schedule. Time estimated
is less than top down estimate. Budget time according to top down. He
has a list of priorities and due dates.
Upcoming deadlines for overall schedule includes March 99 telescope run, Jun 99 telescope run, big chip & electronics run in Jan 00. Got basic agreement on software needs from Mark Cornell.
ACTION ITEMS:
JL:
-Talk with Phil about schedule.
MKH:
-Make sure we get a picture of teachers and poster at AAS.
-Call American Statesman about article on EPO program at AAS.
DJ:
-Go over electronics schedule with Matt.
MR:
-Talk with Sean and James about guide camera.
-Go over electronics scheulde with Dan.
-Talk with Phil about schedule.
