MaryKay:
-Good experience in Cape Town. EPO important motivation for SALT
-Will focus on Spectroscopy in March Teachers' Meeting. Has various classroom exercises. Afternoon talk on echelon by JL.
-DJ asked how SOFIA EPO helps SI team EPO activities (JS raised issue with regards to his German instrument). MKH is on the Working Group on EPO and feels more support is needed; will push further.
-MR talked w/RESY contact for SOFIA tour. Will pass information on.
-Report of last EPO session: Computer seemed like good activity. We need to find cost for raytracing program. -MR to get documents on web.

Matt:
-2 weeks spent w/SPIE papers (as for John and Dan)
-Couple days spent on Optics session for Feb EPO session.
-Report on Waco Mtg for FAA issues (3/11-12).

• Need to send following information to Pernic as available:
  • Schedules
  • drawing package (includes: master list, assembly, detail for safety critical items, modifications to COTS, parts list, electrical: box-to-box and block diagram)
  • VERY top level description
  • Reports: (includes: stress, safety, and process specifications)
  • test plans
  • plans for continued airworthiness
  • Operations plans
    
• DJ proposes a day to sit down and envision scenarios

• 6 week slip in SOFIA start date (Dec 2001?)
• No commitment from SOFIA on small nods, but Erickson's feeling is should be fine. Telescope has fast slew capability and gyros are good.
• Image Motion caused largely by telescope bending and tertiary tower motion. New loads and modal observer gives 0.4" rms. TA manufacturer loses money for image motion >0.2" rms ($6Mil for 0.7", $2Mil for 0.5"). Wiltsee will ask for further incentives to reach 0.2".
• JS described button issue. SSSC will ask TA manufacturer to make cone shaped tertiary tower with smaller tertiary (~1.25* minimum size). Check w/ Wiltsee to see if letter was sent.

Dan:
-Electronics still in process. Hope for more progress soon. MR needs to give listing of where we are now for DJ to proceed.

John:
-Order to Hyperfine for both gratings
-Need to order substrate machining (12 wk) [Note: will want LN-212 F cycling] Issue of time delay vs. risk. Call more vendors.
-McD may have draftsperson by end of month, but maybe no engineering. Will mechanical slip until engineer available?
