MaryKay:
-link to EXES web site from SOFIA web site now established
-March EPO meeting went well. Covered Spectroscopy and included grating making demo in lab. Grating making may not have reached closure. Do summary talk next meeting.
-Will focus on Use of Spectroscopy in April Teachers' Meeting. Use Palomar Sky Survey charts to show colors (MKH). Doppler demo and talk (MR). Grating summary (JL).
-MK on for juice & donuts. MR on for coffee. Lunch at Posse.

Matt:
-Web up to date.
-Report on FAA IPT progress: expect a document by end of April outlining procedure. This is document that should have come out Dec 1997.
-Have passed software block diagram on to Dan for iteration.
-Need to talk w/ Don Figer (UCLA) re: NIRSPEC software.
-Have worked out thermal modeling program. Believe hold time can be improved with vapor-cooled shields. Will be testing program with Irshell.
-Need to schedule dewar design alternative meeting and operational scenarios meeting.

Dan:
-Electronics still in process. Russell Wallace has sent some hardware (Luke tested and works well). DJ will talk with Russell Wallace further regarding systems.
-Will get electronics outline of current needs to Matt this week so that Matt can contact people met at SPIE.
-SOFIA Council meeting is set for May 5,6. Will bring up button, image motion, and software development. Will talk with Stutzki re: tertiary size and secondary load path for primary mirror.

John:
-Optical design work at low level.
-Test grating:

• Talked with Hyperfine at SPIE. Bernie Bach said they could prepare substrate.
• Sent FAX to Hyperfine upon return. Some issue about drilling hole.
• Waiting to hear about drilling hole. May have to go back to local substrate preparation. This could result in loss of past month.
• Wants to do 2 substrates and heat treat one after most machining. May represent further delay, but may give better surface finish and less warping. Outside time pressures (grant deadlines) already such that late Fall delivery probably doesn't matter.
• Should be able to calculate warpage given stresses.
