Research Engineering-Scientist Associate Position in Silicon Processing at the University of Texas at Austin
The Department of Astronomy at the University of Texas at Austin is searching for a Research Engineering-Scientist Associate IV in the field of research and development of silicon diffractive optics for astronomical applications.

The program involves: Fabrication of silicon gratings for astronomical applications. Development and maintenance of equipment and processes for lithographic fabrication of gratings and for infrared optical measurements for grating evaluation. Management of the University of Texas silicon grating lab. Management of project interaction with external vendors. Fabrication of flight hardware for spectroscopy from space, optical design and development of high-resolution IR Spectrographs, development of optical instrumentation for Hobby Eberly Telescope, astronomical research on young stellar objects.
The required qualifications include: PhD with major coursework in the field of assignment and two years of related experience including training in laser, laboratory safety and regulatory compliance.; OR, Master's Degree and four years of related experience, including training in training in laser, laboratory safety and regulatory compliance.; OR, Bachelor's Degree and six years of related experience, including training in laser, laboratory safety and regulatory compliance. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
The preferred qualifications include: Broad experience with silicon fabrication and process inspection tools, including any of the following: photolithography, wet and dry etching, sputtering. Experience with visible and infrared optical measurements, and other diagnostic tools (SEM, AFM, ellipsometry, profilometry).
