Graduation Statistics
The Graduate Program at the University of Texas at Austin has always had an excellent record of graduating students. We
have the normal attrition of students who voluntarily leave the program for various professional and personal reasons, but
instances of students being formally asked to leave the program for academic reasons are rare. We endeavor to give students
the support they need to persevere and succeed. The table below shows the retention statistics for the last 17 years. The
years 1993-1996 had anomalously high attrition rates due to the number of students who transferred to computer science
or related employment. Over the past 10 years, only a few students have been dismissed for academic reasons.
